Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism left him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
