Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Norris, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.

Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.

The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the wall.

Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.

Hamilton wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.

The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
